All of my students I tutor are going into finals this week and next week, which is why I would like to take some time to point out some help to those Spanish II students of mine who need to know the difference between the past tenses in Spanish.
This website has several exercises to get you thinking about the differences and it will give you immediate feedback with the reason for the choice.
The first three options give you the verb conjugated correctly in both tenses, all you have to do is choose which one is the correct tense.
The 4th option has you type in the conjugations which means you have to choose the correct tense and the correct conjugation within that tense! So you have to know who the subject of the sentence is (that is who is controlling the verb).
The last option is a video comprehension one where you watch (and listen) to the video and then you have the choice of doing the exercise without the verb given to you or with it and the subject given to you. I would strong suggest the first option (sin los verbos) as that would be more like what will be on the test!
Good luck and if you have any questions please feel free to send me an email or comment on this post!
